Why Maribel Exists

Care is shifting out of inpatient facilities - patients are demanding it and doing it right can generate real value. But it is hard and complicated. We believe that deep strategic partnerships with health care organizations, rooted in technology, can and will unlock tremendous impact.

Maribel Health exists so that patients receive the care they deserve where they need it most – in their home.

Maribel Health is named in honor of Maribel Sanchez Souther who died in 2016 at age 41 after a two-and-a-half-year battle with triple-negative breast cancer. She lived an amazing life as a wife, mother of three, friend, Ivy League coach, and All-American runner.

During her treatment, Maribel had multiple hospital admissions that took her away from her young family. Often, these issues could have been addressed more effectively in the home with the right support and technology. Maribel Health exists so that patients like Maribel receive the care they deserve where they need it most – in their home.

"Maribel Sanchez Souther was a dear family friend and despite my decades-long career as a hospitalist and healthcare entrepreneur, I was frustrated that I could not help her get the care she deserved. Maribel Health was founded to change that. Patients can get the care they want surrounded by those they love and healthcare organizations can generate tremendous value when we better engineer care that bridges hospital & clinic and home & community. It’s a win-win."
